Running for Cause
Bali’s economy has been suffering with the reduction of tourism and many people have lost their jobs during the pandemic. Connect for Cause organised a running event to raise awareness about the situation in Bali and raise funds for the Bali Green Recovery Program by the organisation INKURI. With our 147 participants we raised a total of 2200€!
Bali’s economy has been suffering with the reduction of tourism and many people have lost their jobs during the pandemic. It is reported that approximately IDR 85 trillion of income from the tourism sector has been lost due to the pandemic and caused an increase in unemployment rate of 5.63%. Unfortunately many of the people who have lost their jobs are the youth with ages between 18-35 years old.
Given this data, the people of Bali needed a solution that does not only help the economy but also make sure it is resilient to face future challenges. Therefore, the non-profit organisation Inkuri created a 9-month green entrepreneurship incubation program called „Youth Sustainability Entrepreneurship Incubation“ with the focus on strengthening the resilience of Bali’s economy in three industries: craft, agri-food, and the sustainable-tourism sectors.
How is Connect for Cause involved?
We organised a running event to raise awareness about the situation in Bali and raise funds for the Bali Green Recovery Program by the organisation INKURI.
Our partner Wahu Board sponsored the first 400km of the fundraising event by donating €5 per 1 km run. Participants can contribute individually to the campaign as well.
